LEGO® DUPLO® preschool building toys are specially designed for the small hands and big imaginations of children aged 1½ - 5 years. DUPLO bricks are twice the size of standard LEGO bricks, making them a great way to kick off a child’s building career. DUPLO is all about giving your child the opportunity to build, create, and develop while discovering so many ways to play!
1969
The first LEGO® DUPLO® product was launched worldwide in 1969.
1977
The first DUPLO characters saw the light of day in 1977 and were basically DUPLO bricks with heads!
1983
In 1983 the DUPLO characters became much more diverse and shaped like “real people”: moveable arms and legs, different cultures, professions, hairstyles, etc. were part of the redesign which gave them a more emotional appeal.
1986
In 1986 more details were added to the DUPLO characters – kids, decorations, facial expressions.
1990
In 1990, the DUPLO finger dolls were released.
2004
2004 marked the latest milestone for the DUPLO character - “real” hair, and detailed decorations.
